FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLORADO ALTITUDE TRAINING BRINGS THE MOUNTAINS TO SEA LEVEL FOR THE NIKE-FUNDED OREGON PROJECT.

Boulder, CO, (April 19, 2006) - The Oregon Project, funded by Nike, was started by Alberto Salazar in 2001 to train America's most promising young distance runners. Salazar believes in world-class coaching supported by cutting-edge facilities and technology. One of the Project's key technologies is altitude simulation equipment from Colorado Altitude Training (CAT).

U.S. Olympic coach Dr. Joe Vigil had this to say about altitude training: "Since 1968, 95% of all Olympic and World Championship medals from the 800 through the Marathon were won by athletes who lived or trained at altitude...It can therefore be concluded that altitude training is necessary for success in endurance events."

The problem for most people, however, was access to a suitable altitude location. CAT eliminated this problem by creating altitude simulation products that bring the mountains to sea-level. For the Oregon Project, CAT converted an entire house using their Colorado Mountain Room ™ system to a simulated altitude environment. Recently, Salazar added a separate altitude exercising enclosure called the Colorado Exercise Room ™.

The results for Oregon Project's athletes have been incredible. Earlier this month, Adam Goucher finished in 6th place in the 34th IAAF World Cross Country Championships. This is significant because it represents the highest finish ever for a U.S. runner in the men's 4km event. Olympian Dan Browne was a founding member of the Oregon Project and holds the 2002 USA Marathon championship and the 2005 Half-Marathon title.
