11/3/06 Shannon Briggs Trains with Altitude to Beat His Opponent to the Punch
Contact: Rip Young
Phoenix, AZ - Shannon Briggs is preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career, and he is working harder than ever. Briggs meets Sergei Liakhovich to contend for the WBO title on November 4, 2006 in Phoenix. Shannon's secret weapon? Altitude. In Phoenix? Yes. Colorado Altitude Training (CAT) teamed with Briggs to form Hyboxic.com, a link to CAT's website and a partnership that has Shannon the Cannon in the best shape of his life.
For several weeks leading up to the fight, Briggs spent 6-8 hours per day sleeping in a CAT-430 ™ Altitude Tent. The tent simulates altitude and studies show that the effects of altitude on the body are increased speed, strength, endurance, and recovery. Briggs had this to say about his preparation: "I feel great and am in the greatest shape of my life. I was living my life and having fun, but I have to leave that behind. I have never really trained like this before in my career."
CAT has a history of helping elite athletes reach new peaks in their training. The company's clients include 5 of the top 6 Tour de France cyclists in 2006 and 6 of the top 10 in 2005; 6 of the last 7 World Ironman Champs, including most recent winner Normann Stadler; and NFL Pro-Bowlers, NBA All-Stars, and NHL All-Stars; as well as gold medal Olympians like members of the US Speed Skating Team. Now, CAT is pulling for Shannon to accomplish his goal of regaining the World Heavyweight Title.
