 Q

Why is my heart rate lower in the CER? Or higher?

 A

When you first arrive at altitude, your heart rate will increase at rest and during moderate exercise.

You may notice a decrease in heart rate at maximal exercise, however.

The reason for the increased heart rate is that your stroke volume (amount of blood ejected by the left ventricle of the heart in a single heartbeat) may decrease due to a lower total blood volume or plasma volume.
