Does it matter which piece of equipment I use for my workouts?

 A 

It depends on what sort of results you are looking to achieve.

If you are training for an event, or are trying to increase your speed, power, or endurance for a specific sport (i.e. cycling or running) then you should train in that sport.

If you are just looking to increase general fitness and decrease your workout time, then you can use any piece you like.
